I can't get over the way melon and squash seeds smash through the soil. The baby shoots seem so determined, single-minded, even aggressive, whereas I think of the fruits (the one pictured is watermelon) as happy-go-lucky, laid back.
The other day in the greenhouse I remarked on how I have to restrain myself from just taking bites out of yummy baby plants. I thought I'd get knowing nods. I got looks of horror. Was called a "cannibal". Yeesh, I didn't do it...(but don't they look good?)
